Only in My Dreams

If I want

To simply gaze

Upon his smiling face,

It’s only in my dreams…

If I yearn

By him to sit

And have a little chat,

It’s only in my dreams…

If I desire

To enjoy the scent

Of his lingering cologne,

It’s only in my dreams…

If I wish

To listen to

His contagious laugh,

It’s only in my dreams…

If I’d like

To wrap up in

One last warm embrace;

It’s only in my dreams…

So if I covet

Or sound too sad,

Please don’t judge

Too harshly,

Because, you see,

I miss my dad,

Ever since we lost him.
