11/26/2006 - Thinking About Wheels, Engine Hoist Deal, and Brakes

Not that I am ready but I keep thinking about what wheels to go with on the car. I will obviously be replacing the old aluminum slots with something new but not sure what.

One of my favorites so far are the Cobra 427 (TOP) and Cobra III design. The semi-open design looks nice and is similar to the original Cobra wheels.

Another favorite is the American Salt Flat. This design will cover up the stock rotors up front and the SN95's in the back which is fine. It's a balance between vintage and modern to me.

Another nice wheel is the Coy C-67. Pretty much an Edlebrock 454 knock off, the wheel has the right backspacing (5.5") to easily fit but is limited in width with a 9" being the widest.. maybe that's more than enough.

I've also looked at the FR500's and they do look nice. My only concern is that with a 17" or 18" rim such an open wheel might look out of place with stock front rotors and the smaller SN95 rears

I've been wanting/needing a 'Cherry Picker', or Engine Hoist as it's officially called, for some time now and liked the price on this one from Pep Boys. Final price is $99 which is $50 cheaper than I've seen before. Now I can drop the empty block and TKO in for a test fit and trans cross member fab and mock up the EFI configuration.

Finally found another caliper for the passenger side. I know, they don't look the same but they will get painted anyhow. I also finished the emergency brake cable mounts and painted/installed them.
