12/3/2006 - Front Brakes... err Brake that is

Worked on getting the front spindles/brakes together this weekend. Here is the driver's splash shield installed. I had planned on getting both sides done but messed up one seal on the install (the edge caught on the rotor and dimpled the inside) even with using a wood block to drive it in so I'll pick up another this week.

Next the rotor is dropped on after packing/greasing the wheel bearings... that is always such a messy job. After trying to find out the 'correct' direction to the run the slots I found that with non-directional vented rotors it doesn't matter so I went with the swept back look.

Top shot of the caliper dropped in for a test fit. Nothing trick here, just stock 69/70 that is all new.

Rear shot of the brake setup with the braided brake line installed and everything thread locked and torqued. Guess I worked quiet enough for the dogs to hang around. That or the 30 degrees and 5" of snow outside kept them in. lol

A shot of the "handy dandy low tech back space checker thingy" in use. With a 17" wheel, which is where the slot stops, l am not seeing anymore than 4.5" of back space possible up front.
