4/22/2007 - Block and Mock

I picked up a 5.0 roller block today to get closer to a full motor.

I had though seriously about a new 5.0 block, a DSS Level 10 block, etc but found a deal on this that will suffice for my street motor needs.

This block and a 347 stroker kit, a decent cam and lifters and most of the engine is close to assembly.

The block has been vatted, cleaned and bored .030. Close to ready to use but I will be popping the oil galley plugs, cleaning the galleys, tapping the plugs for threaded plugs, and power washing the block out for a complete cleaning.

The block has apparently been sitting a while bagged up and some surface rust was apparent. Nothing that a line bore and lifter hone clean up won't fix.

Here you can see the finish. I will still double check bore and taper to make sure things are solid.

I ended up getting a 5.0 front cover for free and picked up these underdrive pulleys while I was there. I have three or so early model front covers but no late models.

Of course I couldn't resist not dropping the Twisted Wedge heads on the thing just to see what it will look like.

Especially with the rockers stuck on as well. Looks like a real motor now.
