1/13/2008 - Floor Pans Version 2 - Fuel Stuff - Finally Back to Work

Finally Back to work?
After eight months I hopefully will be back on this project. Things stalled last year during overload at work filling in for two to three positions. I never got back into it but did work on a couple other projects including the GoMo and a bicycle build at RatRodBikes.com. I purchased the floor pans I wanted some time ago but form some reason the task seemed very daunting. I had fitted some previously purchased short pans but they were extremely cheap stampings and I wanted full pans anyhow.
Floor Pan Version 2

Basic pan with the holes punched. I purchased the puncher/flanger just for this purpose but ended up not flanging since it just really wasn't going to work with all the curves and tight fit.

Here is a close up of the punched holes. MUCH easier than drilling all around the edges.

Test fit and screwed down up front for welding.

Rear fitting in progress.

Rear section welded in. The key is getting the metal flat and in contact... somewhat of a challenge in some areas. Of course I ran out of gas in the middle of this.

Next will be grinding/checking welds, clean up welding and seam sealing.

Since I ran out of gas I moved to the passenger side and promptly over cut the front part of the pan by the tunnel. Will have to weld that piece back in. I had remove more of the original here than the other side. :-(
Fuel System Parts

Some time ago I had purchased all the fuel system items I believe I need. 3/8" aluminum line for supply and return (just easier than mixing -6 and -8 fittings), all the hard line to braided fittings and ends, bulk heads for up front and a fuel pump and canister filter.

This is the pumps/filter/canister setup. The filer/canister on the left will be fed by the Holley blue pump in the middle creating a 'slosh tank' for the EFI pump on the right. All this fits under the car behind the rear end and everything will be braided or hard line the complete route.
