2/10/2008 - B-Quite Continues - Picked
up a 5.0 Motor
|
|
The interior work continues.. and my back can feel it. I thought the
interior would be much more fun and easier on my back that the rest of the
car... ack.. not at all. Spending several days bent over inside a vehicle
is NO FUN. |

This is how it started.. a couple runs of B-Quite across the middle. It
really lays down quite easy. Just roll out, cut, peel and stick. You can
slit it where needed to make things fit the curves and fill in the blanks
with pieces. |

I had to stop to wait for floor pan plugs at one point but thanks to
John's Mustang in Houston I had them before the week end. A bit of seam
sealer and some drilling for the screws and they're done. |
|
Shiny :-) |

With most of the interior done I used foil tape to cover the seams and
keep the sticky sealer part from getting on everything. Makes it look
better as well. |

View from the other side. I still have to pull the dash back out since I
dropped it in to get the steering column mocked up so I could test fit and
make sure the steering works with the rack and pinion setup. |

I also cut a plywood filler for behind the back seat. There will be a
couple sub woofers mounted here so I needed a thicker material. Although
there will be a couple sub woofers hiding under the rear seat, I still may
cut some thin sheet metal to cover the trunk side of the wood. |

Also picked up a few other parts along the way. A rear tank to rear piece
since mine is bent and rusted, a dome light, driveshaft loop, braided rear
brake line, and the floor pan plugs used above |

5.0 Motor added to the Mix |
|
_small.jpg)
I came across the 5.0 motor that is really complete except for the top
manifold and throttle body. It has ALL the wiring harness connectors,
compressor, alternator, etc included.
It has all the little things that I need to round up
still for the 347 EFI engine in the Stang. |

For $300 it should be worth it for me in the long run. What I don't use on
the Stang will get used in an '87 F150 that needs a motor. I will
eventually pull this one down, check it out, re-ring it, some new
bearings, and have a ready 5.0 for the truck.
I may use the serp setup off this engine to start out
with and use the reduction pulleys I picked up. |
